Basque Club of Utah Casino Night
The Basque Club of Utah will host a Casino Night, on Saturday October 26th at St. Vincent de Paul Benvegnu Center. The evening will include food, drinks and a lot of fun for all. It is free, with an optional chip buy in starting at $5. Make sure to dress up for the costume contest, and don’t forget the kids, there will be lots for them to do too. Winners of casino games will receive a ticket that can be used for any of a number of amazing prizes. Dinner will be potluck and the bar is free but donations are welcome. This guarantees to be a fun event for all ages!
BEO Basque Cultural Day
As reported last week, the Basque Educational Organization’s next installment of the Basque Cultural Day will focus on Basques in California - Kaliforniako Euskaldunen Atzak, on Saturday, October 26th at the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center. The afternoon will start at 1:00pm with Marianna Etcheverria, Jeanette Bidart and Mitch Garriador who will present on the early Basque presence in Los Angeles. Steve Gamboa and Janet Barreneche will present on the Basques in the Bakersfield area, and Nancy Zubiri will present the history of the Basque Hotels in San Francisco. Pedro Oiarzabal will present on the Basques who served in World War II. Presentations will be followed by a special dance performance by the Zazpiak Bat Dancers, directed by Valerie Arrechea. 2019 International Mus
The 42nd International Mus Tournament wrapped up last Thursday in Baiona with Canada’s team, Franck Altuna and Rufino Iribarren winning for the second time. This year’s event ran October 12-19th with teams from fourteen countries participating. The week isn’t just about Mus though, with the group being treated to a number of outings and experiences by the hosting country, and the French Mus Federation. EiTB shared a segment about the event on its Iparraldearen Orena. Zorionak to the Canada, as well as to the US team, Victor Albistur and Martin Irigoyen for placing 7th!
