Reno Zazpiak Bat Fall Picnic

Reno Zazpiak BatReno’s Zazpiak Bat Basque Club will host its annual fall picnic this Sunday, September 22nd at Rancho San Rafael Park, at the Peavine Pavilion. Festivities will begin at 11:30am and will include a BBQ lunch of lomo, lamb kabobs, and sides around 12:30pm.  Cost of the meal is $15 for adults and $5 for children with RSVP, or $20 for adults and $7 for children without a RSVP.  RSVP’s can be made here, or by phone (775) 762-3577 by September 18th.  The picnic will also include a cash Mus Tournament.  Cost to participate is $10 per player that will in turn serve as the prizes for first and second places.  If you’d like to participate, please email renobasqueclub@gmail.com, again by September 18th. Gaztemundu 2019

GaztemunduGaztemundu, a two-week long program aimed at youth from Basque clubs and entities around the world, begins on September 23rd in Bilbao.  Three individuals from the United States have been chosen to participate in this year’s program whose focus is on Basque club management.  Representing the US are Kylie Bermensolo, from the Basque Museum and Cultural Center in Boise; Annie Gavica from Euzkaldunak also in Boise; and president of Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Club, Mateo Franzoia.  Participants will attend several informational sessions over the two-weeks, but will also be treated to tours of significant places in the Basque Country.  The program will conclude with them attending the 7th World Congress of Basque Collectivities, October 2-4, 2019 also in Bilbao.  To see a complete list of participants visit EuskalKultura.eus.
