Mountain Home Basque Picnic
The Mountain Home Euskal Lagunak Basque Club will celebrate its 59th annual Basque Picnic this Saturday, August 3rd. Festivities will begin at 1:30pm with Mass followed by a lamb dinner, kids/adult games, and a public dance beginning at 8pm to the music of Simple Ruckus. All events will take place in the park. Basque Tasting Event in New London
Friends of the New England Basque Club, the Thames River Greenery in New London, will be hosting a wine, cheese, paella and croquetta tasting this Friday, August 2nd from 5-8pm. Thames River will provide a variety of Txakolis and Rioja wines as well as an assortment of cheese, with paella and croquettas provided by Basque club members. The event features food and drink that will be highlighted at the club’s Basque Fest on August 17th, also in New London, CT. This is a great opportunity to come out and support the club and the Thames River Greenery and Basque Fest tickets will also be available for purchase. Tickets are also available online here.
Seattle Summer Picnic
The Seattle Euskal Etxea will host its annual Summer Picnic this Saturday, August 3rd again at the Lake Sammamish State Park at the Rotunda Shelter. You will be required to bring your Discovery Pass if you have one; otherwise, day passes are also available for purchase at the gate. The festivities will begin at 1pm with Mass celebrated by Aita Antton Egiguren at 1pm, with lunch to follow including lamb, lomo and chorizo sandwiches, cheese, wine and beer. You are invited to bring a salad or dessert to share. Cost of the meal is $10 for single members and $20 for member families, or $25 for non-member singles and $45 for non-member families. Susanville Basque Club Picon Open
The Susanville Basque Club will host its annual Picon Open Golf Tournament on August 17, 2019 at Diamond Mountain Golf Course (470-835 Circle Dr, Susanville, CA 96130). Tournament check-in will begin at 8:00am, with tee time at 9:00am. The tournament is a 4-person team scramble, and cost to participate is $100 per player, or $400 per team. After the tournament, there will be a BBQ Lamb meal provided. All event proceeds will go to the Susanville Basque Club Scholarship Fund for a graduating senior who plans to attend a two- or four-year college. For more information, email Miren Zubillaga.
