Fresno Basque Festival

FresnoThe Fresno Basque Club will host its 42nd Annual Basque Festival this Saturday, May 4th at Rancho Vista del Rio(6464 Golden State Blvd. Madera, CA 93637).  Doors open at 9am with mass at 11am followed by a Lamb BBQ.  Cost of the lunch is $25 for adults and $10 for Children between the ages of 5-12.  After lunch, enjoy a parade of Basque dancers and the Klika with Chorizo Sandwiches available at 5pm.  The Jean Flesher Band will provide the music for Saturday night’s dance.  Make it a weekend and stay for Basque Breakfast at the Santa Fe Basque Restaurant.  For more information, visit them on Facebook

 

Iparreko Ibarra Mus Tournament

Iparreko IbarraThe Iparreko Ibarra Basque Club will host its annual Mus Tournament on Saturday, May 11th; this year at a new location in Roseville at the Roseville Host Lions Club (107 Sutter Avenue).  Tournament registration will begin at 8:30am and cost to participate is $30 per player including lunch.  You must be a member of the club to play, and so membership and registration fees are payable at the door.  Everyone is welcome to join them for lunch at noon.  Please note that if you have already won a NABO tournament at another club, you may participate but only for the club’s tournament trophy.  If your partner has not qualified for the NABO Tournament yet, he or she will then represent Iparreko Ibarra at the NABO finals.  For complete information, including directions to the new venue, click on their flier.

Ontario, Oregon Mus Tournament

OntarioThe Ontario Oregon Basque Club will host its annual “Last Chance” Mus Tournament on Saturday, May 11th at the Ontario Basque Center located at 300 Depot Lane in Ontario.  Registration will begin at 8am with play beginning at 9am.  Cost to participate is $25 per player that includes lunch.  All fees and membership are payable at the door as you must be a member of the club to play. If you are planning to participate, please RSVP by May 4th by emailing info@ontariobasqueclub.org. Sorte on deneri!

 

Berri Txarrak Farewell Tour

Berri TxarrakAttention Basque Rock Fans! One of the Basque Country's premiere Basque Rock bands - Berri Txarrak - will be in the U.S. later in May on their farewell tour, “2019 Ikusi Arte”.  Berri Txarrak started in 1994 based out of Lekunberri (Nafarroa) and have been going strong ever since, producing nine albums and a documentary film.  Their sound can be described as a combination of punk, metal, fuzz with a bit of indie rock influence creating good, catchy melodies, with well-crafted smart lyrics.  They first played in the U.S. in 2005, in San Francisco, Reno and Boise as part of a NABO Cultural Tour event and have come back to perform in California and the greater United States on several occasions.   

2019, is their last year and the following dates comprise the U.S. leg of their farewell tour, that the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center is proud to be a sponsor of:
