Udaleku Intent to Participate Opens This Friday
Udaleku 2019, a two-week Basque camp for kids between the ages of 10-15, will take place June 16-28, 2019 in San Francisco, hosted by the Basque Cultural Center. During the two weeks, participants will receive instruction in txistu, pilota, mus, and Euskera. This year’s theme is Iparralde, and so they will also learn more about the provinces of Lapurdi, Benafarroa, and Xiberoa. The team of instructors includes: Eric Migueltorrena (pilota), Asun Ezkurra (txistu), Valerie Arrechea (dantza), Argitxu Camus (Euskera), and Lisa Etchepare (Kultura), with Valerie Arrechea and Lisa Etchepare serving as the camp’s co-directors. Txotx 2019 at Eusko Etxea of New York
The Eusko Etxea of New York invites everyone to join them this Saturday, March 2nd at 7pm for “Txotx 2019.” The cider house evening’s menu will include soup, Basque omelet, cod, meat and dessert and Txotx is included. Reno Zazpiak Bat Mus Tournament and Potluck
The Zazpiak Bat Basque Club in Reno will host its annual Mus Tournament/Potluck this Saturday, March 2nd at the American Legion Hall (877 Ralston Way, Reno 89503). The day’s events will begin at 8am with Mus Registration. Cost of the tournament is $25 per player, which includes coffee, pastries and lunch. Membership dues are also required to participate, $20 for individuals and $20 for families. To facilitate registration, and to ensure that tournament play begins promptly at 9am, preregistration is encouraged by using this form that can be filled out and scanned back to renobasqueclub@gmail.com, with payment due at the door. The Potluck festivities will begin at 11am with an afternoon that includes lunch, a silent auction, cakewalk, bingo and games for the kids.
