Boiseko Ikastola Seeks Instructors
The Boiseko Ikastola, a Basque language immersion preschool in Boise, Idaho, is seeking instructors for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. The Ikastola is a preschool program for children between the ages of 3-5 that uses the Basque Country Nubaris curriculum. One of its aims is to prepare children for kindergarten, "in a safe, creative environment while teaching them a new language…." Minimum qualifications include a university degree, fluency in Euskera, experience in curriculum development and preparation as well as English language proficiency. Reno Basque Cuisine Coming Up On The Zimmern List
We are excited to announce that the episode of the Zimmern List filmed this summer in Reno, Nevada during the Zazpiak Bat Basque Club's summer festival will air on December 22nd at 10:00 a.m. EST/9:00 a.m. CST on the Travel Channel. While in Reno, Andrew Zimmern visited Louis' Basque Corner as well as the Reno picnic checking out several local Basque dishes. Tune in and enjoy!
New Children's Book
The authors of Stories of Basque Mythology for Children recently got in touch to let us know that they now have another children's book available in English, Olentzero and Mari Dominigi. The book talks about the Olentzero and Mari Domingi who are traditional Basque Christmas characters. It also contains a skit for children to perform, along with traditional Christmas carols. The Kindle version is available immediately, so could make a great Christmas gift.
Bayonne Ham Event in San Francisco
The Consortium of Bayonne Ham (Jambon de Bayonne) is holding an event to celebrate the launch of Bayonne Ham in the US. The event will take place on January 13, 2019 in San Francisco at the Bask Restaurant from 7-9pm. Folks from Agour will also be attending.
