San Inazio Festivities in Boise
This weekend marks Boise Euzkaldunak’s annual San Inazio Festival and celebration in honor of St. Ignatius of Loyola. This year’s festivities kick-off on Friday July 27th with a “Friends and Family Night,” on the Basque Block. Please bring a pintxo to share. Saturday events begin at 11am with entertainment provided by local musicians and the Boiseko Gazteak dancers (ages 3-14). They will be followed by a performance by Txantxangorriak, a Basque diatonic and pandero ensemble, with the Oinkari Basque Dancers rounding out the afternoon’s entertainment. The action will then move from the Basque Block to St. John’s Cathedral in downtown Boise, for mass and liturgical dances performed by the Oñati Dantza Taldea. After mass everyone is invited to return to the Basque Block for a public dance to the sounds of Errebal.
On Sunday, everyone is invited to the 2018 Euzkaldunak Picnic at Municipal Park from 11am-4pm. On the east end of the park there will be plenty of activities for family and friends, and games for all ages beginning at 2pm. For more information on this event, please click here. After a day in the park, everyone is invited back to the Basque Block for another public dance at 7:30pm with Txantxangorriak opening for Errebal.
