Okineña to Offer Recital at University of Nevada, Reno
Next Thursday, November 16th, the 50th anniversary festivities will continue at the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno with a piano recital by renowned Basque pianist, Josu Okiñena.
Okiñena will be presenting songs from his new CD Xuxurlak that features many pieces by Basque composers that were previously unpublished and unknown. The recital at the University of Nevada, Reno will include pieces by Echeverria, Larrañaga, Bidaurre, Sostoa, Ibarzabal, Aldave, Garbizu, Aita Donostia and Ravel. The event will take place at UNR's Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center in its Rotunda from 12:00-1pm. The concert is free and open to the public, and is part of a larger tour that also included concerts in Argentina and Uruguay. San Martin at Reno Basque Club
The Zazpiak Bat Basque Club will host its annual San Martin Dinner/Dance on November 18, 2017 at the American Legion Hall beginning at 4:30pm. The evening will include good food, fun and friends. The menu includes steak, rice and clams, vegetables, salad, bread, cheese, wine, and dessert with dinner tickets available at the door. Cost of the meal is: with a RSVP by November 15th $20 adult/$10 Children (12 and under); without a reservation $25 adult/$12 Children (12 and under). There will also be a cash (ticket) bar. After dinner there will be plenty of time to catch up with old friends, play a little mus, or even do a little dancing.
