Euskara Eguna Film Festival in Boise

As part of its International Day of Euskera Activities, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center in Boise will be hosting a film festival today, December 8th at 6:30pm in the upstairs card room at the Basque Center. They will be showing Euskara Munduan: Besteen Ahotan by Iñigo Asensio who will be there to present his film that includes several familiar faces from Basque America. Admission is $5 and pintxos will also be provided. Beverages will also be available for purchase at the Basque Center Bar. For complete information, click here.

Bertsolaritza Display at Jon Bilbao Basque Library

Bertsolaritza DisplayThe Jon Bilbao Basque Library at the University of Nevada, Reno has created a new window exhibit in the lobby of the Library/Center for Basque Studies. This display pays tribute to Bertsolaris and the art of improvised oral poetry. If you are in the area, stop by and check it out on the third floor north of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and help yourself to a free copy of a book on the subject. Christmas Party in New England

New England Basque ClubThe New England Basque Club will host its annual Christmas Party this Saturday, December 10th from 5-8pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall located on 7 Valley Road, in Middletown, RI. Members should bring a dish, or dessert to share at this potluck style dinner that will also include raffles, Basque Christmas Caroling, and a Mus tournament after dinner. Christmas Party in New York

Euzko EtxeaThe Basque Club/Euzko Etxea of New York will also be hosting its annual Christmas Party: Santo Tomas and Olentzero this Saturday, December 10th from 4-6:30pm. The day will begin with games for the children with the Olentzero coming to visit at 6:30pm. Afterwards, the bar will open for drinks with Basque cider, Sagardoa, also being available. Pintxos and sandwiches, txistorra, lomo, tortilla, and other specialties will also be served. There will be a raffle, and a DJ. For complete information, visit their website.
