Elko Basque Festival
As every year, on the Fourth of July Weekend, the Elko Euzkaldunak will be hosting its annual festival. This year's 53rd annual festival will take place at the Basque Clubhouse (1601 Flagview Drive, Elko 89801) and will begin on Friday, July 1st with the Txupinazua at 6pm. On Saturday, events include a 5k at 7am, the annual parade through downtown Elko at 11am, and games and dancing at 1pm again at the clubhouse. Saturday night there will also be a public dance with a $12 admission fee. Sunday will begin with a sheepherder's bread auction at 10:30am, followed by mass at 11am. Mass will be followed by lunch and more dancing and Basque sports exhibitions. For complete information on events, visit their website, or on Facebook.
Southern Califonia Basque Festival and NABO Convention

Idaho Governor Issues Proclamation Regarding Basque Heritage
The State of Idaho has now joined the State of Nevada, in declaring June 29th "Basque History and Culture Day." This declaration, also spurred by the events taking place at the Smithsonian's Folklife Festival, is also a celebration of the Basque's contribution to the development and growth of the state of Idaho, in various forms. Smithsonian Folklife Festival
