NABO Mus Finals
NABO Mus finals will take place this Saturday, June 11th in Lincoln, California hosted by the Iparreko Ibarra Basque Club. Registration will begin at 7:30am with tournament play beginning at 8:30am. Coffee and pastries will be provided players in the morning and everyone is welcome to join them for lunch and dinner. Junior Mus Finals
NABO Jr. Mus finals will be held on July 2nd in Chino in conjunction with this year's NABO convention hosted by the Southern California Basque Club. If your club is sending a team, please submit names and ages of the players with their contact information to Jr. Mus Chair, Gina Espinal-Aguerre. More information will be provided as the tournament approaches.
Etxepare Basque Institute Conference
The third and final segment of the international conference "The International Legacy of Lehendakari Agirre's Government," will be held on June 9, 2016 at the Teachers College at Colombia University. The event, co-organized by the Etxepare Basque Institute, the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies and Leipzig University, brings together international experts to analyze the legacy of Agirre's Government in exile and its relation to the construction of a democratic Europe. Prior to this session, two other sessions were held in Reno, at UNR in March, and in Berlin at Humboldt University, just last week. For complete program information, click here.
Mountain Picassos Exhibit
A new exhibit "Mountain Picassos: Basque Arborglyphs of the Great Basin" is currently on display at the Rancho San Rafael Regional Park Visitor Center in Reno, NV, through August 1, 2016. Everyone is invited to a reception to inaugurate the exhibit, and to meet Jean and Phillip Earl, who have researched these tree carvings for more than 50 years, this Friday, June 10th at 6pm. This exhibit is curated by Sherlyn Hayes Zorn (Nevada Historical Society) and Patricia A. Atkinson (Folklife Program Coordinator, Nevada Arts Council) as part of the Nevada Arts Council's Nevada Touring Initiative – Traveling Exhibition Program.
