Iparreko Ibarra 11th Annual Besta

Iparreko IbarraThis weekend, the Iparreko Ibarra Basque club will be celebrating its 11th Annual Besta. Festivities will begin on Saturday morning at 8am with Mus registration with play to start at 9am. Lunch will be served at 11:30 featuring Tri-Tip and Mass will be at 1pm. Following, there will be performances by the local Iparreko Ibarra dancers and the Zazpiak Bat dancers from San Francisco. Next there will be a weight carrying competition and dinner will follow at 6pm. After dinner there will be dancing to the music of the Jean Flesher, Rene Caballero Band. Diversity Weekend at New York Euzko Etxea

GayaldiThe New York Basque club will be celebrating Diversity Weekend/Aniztasunaren Astebukaera October 9-11th, with an entire program of activities. Events will include the opening of a photo exhibit by Koitz Foncillas, movie screenings, roundtable discussions, book presentations, and the third annual Gayaldi dance party. On Sunday there will be a free dinner at the Eusko Etxea. Basque Family Cultural Celebration in Carson City

NEvada MuseumThe Nevada State Museum in Carson City, NV will be hosting a "Basque Family Cultural Celebration" on October 10th from 10am-3pm. The event will include a talk about Basques in Nevada, by Iker Saitua ABD, Center for Basque Studies, a Mus workshop, and some tips on how to learn some Basque words. Trailing of the Sheep Festival

Trailing of the sheepThis week also marks the Trailing of the Sheep Festival in Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, Idaho. This five-day event that celebrates the rich history and cultural heritage of the area includes everything from film, crafts, workshops on knitting, dying yarn, sewing, presentations, sheepdog trials, a dinner/dance, a parade, and of course the trailing of the sheep through Main Street Ketchum on Sunday at noon.
