Big Horn Basque Club Picnic

BuffaloThe Big Horn Basque Club, in Buffalo Wyoming, invites everyone to join them in celebrating their annual picnic on August 15th at the Folded Hills Ranch. The event will begin with mass celebrated by Fr. Antton Egiguren at 5pm, followed by dinner and a dance to the music of Jean Flesher. The cost of dinner is $10 for non-members and members are asked to bring a side dish to share. Besta hun dener!


Mariñela Day in New England

New EnglandThe New England Basque Club invites everyone to its "Mariñela Day" (Fishermen's Day) to be held on Saturday August 15th at 1pm at the Dolphin's Cove Marina in Bridgeport Ct. Cost of the event is $20 for adults and kids under 10 eat free. The menu includes: rabas, chorizo, salad, paella, dessert and coffee. A cash bar will also be available. Txerriki Results

NABO's annual Txerriki pork contest was held last Saturday as part of the Kantari Eguna festivities and Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba's annual picnic. There were 17 entries in all, in three categories, Chorizo, Lukainka and Tripota. The winners were: Bernard Etcheverry from Los Banos for his Chorizo, Daniel Arrechea of So. San Francisco for his Lukainka, and Gardnerville's own Jean Pierre Izoco, for his Tripota. Jean Pierre is a repeat winner having one last year in Bakersfield as well. Zorionak to all the winners and many thanks to everyone for entering, and to the Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba for making the event possible. Remember, "Go Pig or Go Home!"
