Korrika Event in New England
The New England Basque Club has organized an event as part of this year's Korrika, the race that covers the Basque Country every other year, from Urepel to Bilbao, in favor of the Basque language. The NEBC has organized a "small Korrika" in Newport Rhode Island, this Saturday, March 7th at 4pm. The event includes a walk along King Park on a beautiful trail that overlooks the Newport Harbor. After the walk, approximately 5:30pm, a family dinner will be held at the Yumi Garden Buffet in Middletown (872 W Main Rd, RI 02842). For more information visit their Facebook page.
The Euskara Institutua at the University of the Basque Country, in collaboration with the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language, and Ghent University are conducting research on the relationship between vocabulary and brain processes. This study was first conducted in Spanish and is now being done in Basque. What they are hoping is for all Basque speakers, native or not, to take their test. The test takes just about four minutes and can be done as many times as you'd like. Some general informational questions are included at the beginning to aid in their research, age, gender, mother language etc. If you have time it's really kind of fun. To participate, click here.
