Big Horn Basque Club Annual Meeting
The Big Horn Basque Club, host of the 2017 NABO Convention, will hold its annual members' meeting this Sunday at the American Legion Hall beginning at noon. The day will include lunch with the Basque club providing lamb, bread, cheese and wine. Everyone else is encouraged to bring a dish to share. After lunch members will be updated on the club's activities and finances by president, Jason Camino, followed by elections to fill three spots on the board of directors. Membership dues are also due at this time: $20 for a single or $35 for a family. The club has also announced that its annual Mus Tournament will be held on February 11th.
Chino Basque Club 50th Anniversary
The Chino Basque Club, who is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will hold its January Club Lunch on Sunday, January 28th at noon. The menu will include steak and chicken and costs $20 for adults and $10 for children. To make reservations, or for directions, click here. Special Evening of Bertsolaritza in Reno this Friday
The William A. Douglas Center for Basque Studies and the Jon Bilbao Basque Library have teamed up to bring you a very special treat….Before traveling to Elko, to participate in this year's National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Bertsolaris, Miren Artetxe, and the 2017 Basque Country Champion, Maialen Lujanbio, will be in Reno to showcase their skills, along with local Bertsolari Jexux Goñi. The event will take place on Friday, January 26th from 5-7pm at the Jon Bilbao Basque Library and Center for Basque Studies, on the 3rd floor north side of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center.
