Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba Picnic
The Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba will host its annual Basque picnic on Saturday August 11th at the CVIC Hall in Minden, NV. The weekend's festivities will actually kick-off at the JT with a dance to the music of Manuela and Jean Pierre Etchechury, and Jean Flesher on Friday night beginning at 8pm. Saturday's festivities will begin at 11am with mass celebrated by Aita Mike Lastiri with the participation of dancers and klika. Lunch is at 1pm and includes BBQ lamb, chicken, lamb stew, beans, salad, cheese, ice cream and wine for $25 per adult and $10 per child under 12. Entertainment will begin at 3pm with the local Mendiko Euskaldun Club dancers and the Zazpiak Bat Basque Club dancers from Reno. Children's games will begin at 5pm, and txorizos will be available for purchase at 6pm. The event will conclude with a public dance beginning at 8pm again to the music of Manuela and Jean Pierre Etchechury and Jean Flesher. Stick around for Baratxuri Salda at 11:30pm. Chino Basque Club Seeking Program ads
The Chino Basque Club is preparing to celebrate its 50th Anniversary Basque Club Picnic at the Chino Fairgrounds on Sunday September 2nd, and as such it is seeking ads for the program book. Price of the ads is $125 for 4.5 x 7 full page ad; $65 for 2/3 page or 4.5 x 4.5; and $45 for a third page or 2.5 x 4.5 ad. Annually, approximately 1,000 people attend this event and so this is a great opportunity for business owners to reach new clientele, or to pay tribute to family members. Hella Basque is Back
We have also heard from Anne-Marie Chiramberro that her blog "Hella Basque" is now back up and running. The blog that hopes to serve "as an outlet to discuss Basque American culture and community," took a two-year hiatus, but is now back up and available here.
