Susanville Mus Tournament
The Susanville Basque Club comes to us this week with two pieces of news: First, their annual Mus tournament will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Susanville Community Center (115 N. Weatherlow Street), and secondly they have set the date for their annual Picon Open, August 18, 2018, so please save the date.
On the 28th, Mus registration will begin at 9:30am. All participants` must complete the registration form, and early registration is appreciated. Cost to participate is $45 that includes lunch: lamb chops, salad, bread, cheese and wine, as well as membership dues of $15/per player. Non-Mus players are also invited to join them for lunch for $12.00 per person. If you'd like to stay the night area hotel information is available here. Basque Dinner in Denio
The Jackson Mountain Homemakers will be hosting their annual Basque Dinner on Saturday, April 21st from 5-7pm, at the Denio Community Hall. Cost of the meal is $15.00 for individuals 13 and older and $8.00 for kids 6-12 years of age. Purchase of a meal ticket also enters you into the evening's raffle for various door prizes, with entertainment provided by the Winnemucca Irrintzi Dancers. For more information see their flier here.
Lehendakari Agirre Center Seminar at Columbia University
The Agirre Lehendakaria Center has announced an upcoming seminar "The Basque Experience: Capturing the Narratives of Sustainable Peace," that will take place on April 23rd from 9am-1:30pm at Columbia University in New York. The seminar will present research that the Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity (Earth Institute/Columbia Univ), and the Agirre Lehendakaria Center (University of the Basque Country) are currently implementing on new Sustainable Human Development models.
