Invitation from Parc de l'aventure basque en Amérique in Quebec
This week we were contacted by Jean Claude Elissalde, in Quebec, who would like to invite everyone to a new museum opening in June. Here is his letter:
The
Park of the Basques' Adventure in North America is opening a new museum June
15, 2013. The Park is a Basque cultural center built 17 years ago on the
banks of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, to share the history of the
Basques sailors that navigated the North Atlantic in search of whales in the
16th century and to promote the Basque culture.
This year, we are happy to celebrate this new
museum and welcome at the same time the 2013 expedition of the Basque team
Indianoak, from Euzkadi who will row for 2 weeks from Trois Pistoles to
Montreal (
www.indianoak.fr ) on the beautiful but dangerous St. Lawrence river,
recreating the Basques expeditions in the 16th century.
From the 15th to the 17th
of June, we will celebrate together around a huge Zikiro, with music
and dance in the true Basque spirit.
We are inviting all NABO members to join us in
this celebration.
We hope to see you in June.
Laster arte,
The Parc de l’Aventure Basque
PS: We are also looking for a small group of
Basque musicians from US Basque communities, maybe 4 or 5 max, for 2 or 3
weeks in July. They may be asked to be the Anglophone tour guides in the
museum. All expenses paid, except flight. You may have students in NABO
member groups that would be interested to spend some time at the Parc de
l’Aventure Basque and visit Quebec at the same time.
